AIMISÍÉ: WHEN THE NIGHT COMES

It’s the children that haunt me. Maybe it’s their innocence. The curiosity on their faces when they see my hair. The interest when I show them the photos I’ve taken of them. They are oblivious to the fact that they will be driven from their homes. I hear stories about it, about how the displacement is coming. I hear the Maasai in this region have been cut off from access to clean water or social services like healthcare. I see evidence of it everywhere.

What will they do when the night comes?
